Nearsightedness (Myopia)

In myopia, the eyeball is too long in relation to its refractive power. The image point of the distant object being viewed is thus located in front of the retina. Since the eye itself has no possibility to compensate for the myopia, the visual acuity for the distance immediately drops sharply even in the case of a slight myopia.

Can myopia be corrected with contact lenses?

InnoVision contact lenses can correct myopia. In myopia, the correction of the visual defect is done by a minus lens. In this case, the back surface is more curved than the front surface, which makes the center of the lens thinner than the peripheral area. The effect of the minus lens is to shift the image point backwards onto the retina of the eye. InnoVision contact lenses can correct myopia from -0.50D to -12.00D.

How many people are nearsighted?

Worldwide, more than one billion people are nearsighted. In general, the use of computer screens increases the likelihood of developing myopia.
